Warm Pacific Greetings
On behalf of our fanau at Fraser High School, we welcome you to Aiga Tasi.
In 2017 we started our first Pasifika Tutor Group with 67 students and two teachers. Then in 2018, we established our Aiga Tasi Programme with 123 students in five Tutor Groups. This year we are proud to announce that Aiga Tasi has officially become a faculty of Fraser High School with three curriculum areas which are Gagana Sāmoa, Pacific Studies and our Te Kaapuia Junior Learning Hub with our Hei Taniwha Whaanau. Aiga Tasi now has five tutor groups that oversee the academic and pastoral care of our 154 learners with the support of 12 staff members.
Aiga Tasi is open to all students from Year 9 to 13 and specifically for our tamaiti who identify as having connections to the Pacific. Aiga e Tasi translates to "One Family" in Gagana Sāmoa.
Our Aiga Tasi Vision is: We are proud to embrace all cultures and languages. Our identity empowers us to learn and celebrate as tamaiti of the Pacific. Aiga e Tasi is our fanau group where we strive to live our values, faith and beliefs to navigate our lives as LEADers at Fraser and the future.
We acknowledge all our past Pasifika students and their families for establishing our foundation for Aiga Tasi to stand today. We also pay tribute to all our many staff members who have supported our tamaiti throughout the years.
"A fia vave o'o lou va'a, alu na'o oe, ae e fia tuli mamao le taunu'uga, tatou alo'alo fa'atasi". If you want to go fast; go alone. If you want to go far, go together. (Samoan proverb)
In Aiga Tasi our tamaiti and fanau are at the centre of our village and TOGETHER as ONE, we will go further.
